I know.
It’s silly.
I mean, it’s Spring.
The rain has stopped.
The flowers are blooming.
Chilren are still in school.
But it’s soooo annoyingly busy.
The rain stops and then it’s like 90 degrees.
I’m beginning to harvest my cold weather stuff and still need to put in the regular season seeds.
School is jammed packed with end of year activities: testing, field trips, BBQs, Spring Sings, Talent Shows, Crazy Hair Day {oh my goodness, I super hate that day, why is it a thing?! especially because I spend all my waking hours making sure Libby DOES NOT have crazy hair…the irony} rocket building, fundraisers…etc.
All of the metal furniture that I’ve accumulated in the past six months can now be finished and spray painted so no more excuses.
The days are longer which means I have more time to get things done but I’m also getting less sleep…
However, while all that is still true…
this month has been kinda fun.
I entered a Mother’s Day photo contest and was selected for the top five.
All five entries received a prize and I got a 25$ gift card to Hip Hip Party Goods.
I bought some metal letters {picture coming}.
I also entered my name into a drawing at the YMCA and received a free life jacket and then I just got a call today saying I won some work out clothes as well…I mean, now if I WANTED to work out, I would totally be dressed appropriately.
I know, I’ll stop entering.
Obviously now I’m super obnoxious to live with as a sort of local celebrity and I’ve begun doing things like purchasing chocolate milk {which is obviously waaaay better than the stuff you mix yourself} and purchasing 3$ t-shirts from Wal-mart on a whim.
OK…onto the pictures.
After this series I will only be a week behind, so….yay?
Lettuce harvest or let us harvest…not sorry.
OK, I have this really yummy recipe for a quick fry chicken with sauted salami with shallots in a cream sauce that you serve over rice.
The chicken has to be super thin so it melts in your mouth {on a scale of 1-10 how many of you are now contemplating coming to visit now that you know I can make this sort of magic?} so we put the chicken breasts in a bag and pound them till they’re thin.
Spencer is really into wardrobe selections.
Nightly prayers with Libby.
Nightly shenanigans with Bennett.
Little People play before school.
Ready for the day.
Libby licking the window for whatever incomprehensible reason children do things like this.
Bennett is still not loving swim lessons but the crying has been greatly reduced.
I don’t need him to be awesome, I just need him to not die.
Libby usually eats her weight in Ritz crackers and sits on the window sill during Bennett’s lessons.
Spencer had a free season of kinder-soccer so Libby thought that was fun.
Libby at the park.
Fruit smoothie for a snack outside.
Working on her skills.
So, the picture that I entered for the mothering contest is one of me and Libby on the riding lawn mower that I had Elizabeth take.
And some photos I forced my kids to take with me as a Mother’s Day gift to myself.
Somedays I’m feeling confident with where I’m at with photography,
which is usually followed closely by me having an idea I lack the skill set for to make happen.
Case in point, trying to catch the dart as it leaves the gun.
This a metal cart Bryce picked up for me while I was off Spring Breaking with the kids.
Cleaning the handles and legs off with some steel wool.
Scraping off paint globs with a razor blade.
Giving it a good clean with Dawn soap.
Taping the heck out of it.
Meanwhile Bennett and Libby were playing in the washer and dryer…so…
We got some pea gravel delivered to put in the paths of our garden.
The cart finished.
Oh, this is fun.
For Bryce’s after tax seaon business party we got a gift card to Amazon and we bought this swing.
Movin’ that rock.
Hydrating.
Elizabeth claimed the new cart for her bedside table.
And Libby unprompted plopped herself up on this chair after she was ready for church.
Hope everyone has no time to read this because they’re out doing something awesome for Memorial Day Weekend!
Katie
