I know.
You think this promise is too huge.
Like I’ll never be able to live up to it.
That in just moments those words will ring hollow.
In what universe would you wish that you had 30 chickens and a backed up drain?
{Yes, that’s happening.}
But lest you forget…
I have Spencer.
Not anything like a secret weapon.
He’s too loud for that.
But he is some serious entertainment.
Most days.
When I change my perspective.
From being annoyed to being amused.
Like Spencer figuring out what a cuss word is.
Well, he kind of already knew.
But, he DID NOT know about the ‘b’ word OR the ‘f’ word.
Thank goodness.
Enter older sister.
To mention that the ‘b’ word and the ‘f’ word
were BOTH used that day we were all driving home together from something.
Sooo many follow up questions from Spencer.
That were vaguely answered.
But we needn’t have bothered.
Spencer figured it out all on his own.
The cuss word is…
‘before’.
I mean,
it couldn’t be more clear.
It has ‘b’ and ‘f’!
This realization was quickly followed by the fact that we were all sinners
and the incredulity that we had been using it this ENTIRE time.
And despite the fact that ALL of us told him that was not the word, he was unconvinced.
Let the jealousy ensue.

Soccer is officially over, but not before having to play in this sogginess.
Bennett and Ace
I realized my last batch of pictures had zero of Adeline so we worked on rectifying that.
Spencer with his own initiative raked up an entire pile of wet leaves and moved the slide over to slide into them.
And then we hauled over a wagon full of leaves to the light to take some pictures.
And our small peanut harvest.
Unfortunately most of the shells wound up being empty.
But admit it,
you were jealous for a hot minute.
Fall has hit us with full force this last week but the week before it was sooo nice out.
Nakedness and a smiley balloon go hand-in-hand.
Sometimes in the morning we pull out all the cushions to jump on…in underwear.
Bryce and I dressed up as Bonnie and Clyde for our Halloween party.
Our kind neighbor was totally willing to drive his restored truck over for pictures.
Photo cred: Adeline, unhappy about it though she was.
Spencer won a bucket of treats when his picture was selected for the coloring contest at the local bakery.
Elizabeth’s last game!
What Libby does at soccer games.
And the field had still not drained even though we had an entire week with no rain.
Elizabeth did a pretty fair job of replicating the Dreamworks symbol in a pumpkin.
Spencer was crying.
Because Meg had laughed at him.
Or rather, he THOUGHT she had laughed at him.
When he had thrown a stick to himself and whacked himself in the face.
New kicks.
And now it’s November.
Which turns out is much colder and darker than I remember.
But is definitely the best month for playing hide-and-go-seek in the dark after dinner.

Those naked pictures are going to Turn into some serious blackmail one day
ReplyDeleteYeah...the little streakers were my favorite ones of the pictures and the story about smart little Spencer figuring out the before word...a journal entry for sure. Just please, let them stay innocent for a little longer...right?
ReplyDeleteYou are such a talented gal...good thing I love you so much otherwise I would for sure be envious!
