Updating….

a ghetto light with a little less ghetto of a light.

That was an awkward sentence.

SAM_1808

The light in the dining room is hot wired.  Which means there is no switch, just a  pull chain.  So the options for new lights are pretty limited.

But I was tire.d of looking at this sorry excuse for dining room lighting.

So.

I cut off the old shade.

Why I did this, I don’t know.

Because I ended up having to take the light fixture down anyway to slip the new ‘shade’ over it.

Oh well.

I bought this ‘light’ in Colorado for $3 at a garage sale.  (It used to just have a light bulb hanging in it.)New Do 014

(You can see it in the corner there.)

Bryce says it doesn’t look any worse than the old one.

I don’t think that’s a compliment.

Few things could look worse than the old one.

The girls are coming home today.

It’s amazing how much I miss all the chaos.

Not really.

But I do miss them.

That’s a Really Great Line….

Look what Bryce built me.

It’s a clothes line if you can’t tell.

SAM_1806

He asked if I was going to do laundry today so I could try it out.

SAM_1807

Ha.

Not likely.

But I am excited.

A Tuesday Post

SAM_1804

Meg’s baby for her 3rd birthday.

She looks a lot more Asian and Rosie Riveter-like than I was anticipating.

Oh well?

The girls are off visiting grandma and grandpa so I’m trying to spend my time getting some things done….

Which means I haven’t showered, am not wearing a bra and my eating is erratic.

I Know a Guy

Who brings home six new baby chicks because a girl calls him up on the phone and tells him that they’re 25% off and they need a home and they happen to have a home and the chicks will start giving them eggs by December.

SAM_1799

Who makes and hangs swings for his kids.

SAM_1797

Who designs and builds a retaining wall garden, with the help of his dad, for a girl’s Mother’s Day gift.

SAM_1796

{All of that green madness to the left is lettuce, peas, spinach, broccoli and potatoes.}

SAM_1794

Who hauls and rakes like five yards of good garden soil.

SAM_1793

Who gets a baby-sitter and takes a girl to a local garden show and lets her pick out as many pepper {10} and tomato {21} plants as she wants and walks around carrying all of it cause they didn’t know that they should bring a wagon or something.

Who goes garage sale-ing.

Who watches So You Think You Can Dance and any other singing/dancing movie that ever comes out.

Who buys a girl Downton Abbey for Valentine’s Day.

Who washes the dinner dishes every night, faithfully.

Who said his next project he would build a clothes line for this girl.

Who never complains when he comes home at 5pm and is told that people are coming over for dinner at 5:30pm.

Who makes artisan bread.

Who is budgeting the finances so the girl can buy honey bees next year.

Who unloads the dishwasher and washes the dishes in the morning while the girl makes breakfast and packs lunches.

Who said they could cut down two Christmas trees this year.

Who sets the sun.

I hope all of my girls find someone just like him.

My Life Doesn’t Stink

Which, if you didn’t know, makes for really lame blog posts.

The worst thing that has happened, is I just snagged my pants on a sharp corner.  That’s it.  And even for my affinity for the dramatic, not even I can turn that into a worthwhile post.

The honeysuckle has bloomed.

We’ve harvested broccoli, peas, lettuce, strawberries and a couple of raspberries.

All of the chickens are getting along.

The hailstorm that occurred only during the three minutes while I was waiting at the bus stop didn’t do any damage to the garden.

SAM_1789

{Does anyone else find pianos highly un photogenic?  It’s like they don’t even try to  look their best.}

I moved this frame because it was bending the curtain rod that will probably never be used for curtains.

SAM_1792

I’ve managed to find the time to make hundreds of half square triangles.  I actually don’t know if there are hundreds….I have no desire to count them whatsoever.

SAM_1790

Spencer is walking, most of the time.

SAM_1791

And Adeline hasn’t taken a timeout in days.

*Please note that I have not mentioned anything about Meg’s personality swings, behavior or misbehavior.  Not saying anything is evidence enough.

School is out this week.

I’m meeting my sister up in Portland for the weekend.

My in-laws will have the girls all of next week. {And there was much rejoicing.}

See?

Lame.

Oh well.  Somehow we’ll all suffer through it.
