My Mother….

emails me.

Correction.

She communicates with me via email.

The difference?

She’ll post what she wants to say in the subject line,

and there will be no content in the actual email.

Today, I received this one:

“You need to blog all the new happenings going on at your house that I have missed out on.”

I humor her because….well, if you’ve never met her, she’s awesome.

So here’s what we’ve been up to:

My friend came to visit last week, for an entire week.

It was ‘good for the soul’ and was better than getting a full eight hours of sleep at night.

We reupholstered this chair while she was here.

I had picked it up at an estate sale for $5.

Before:

After

This little guy has smiled a couple of times.

Nothing compares.

He turned one month. (Thanks Chelsea!)

The kids discovered some really fun toys:

It’s called the ‘outside’ and the ‘riding lawn mower’.

Here they all are waiting for rides.

While Bryce was on paternity leave/furlough, he worked on a couple of things.

He made some headway on this wall where the brick was stolen.

SAM_2993

We put up fence posts so we can fence the garden and put in more garden boxes.

Those pallets have like 700 retaining wall brick.

So if you aren’t busy…..

SAM_2994

He rototilled so we can put in more raspberries and blueberries.

SAM_2996

One of my hives jumped ship.  Their box is completely empty.

I haven’t had time to look at their box to discern why, but the other hive is doing pretty well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if perhaps they joined forces for the upcoming winter.

SAM_2995

I finished Bennett’s bed.

SAM_2989

SAM_2992

I made some hot air balloons for his mobile.

SAM_2991

And I spend a lot of time with these two.

I also have canned more tomato sauce,

taken a couple of naps,

made a lot of meals,

bought another brood of chicks {I refuse to mention what that brings that total to, but it’s a lot.  I’m sure chicken hoarding is a real diagnosis.}

made plans for homemade Christmas gifts,

watched my neighbor build a shed,

checked the mail,

and winterized the children’s wardrobe.

I don’t want to beg, but feel free to leave a comment,

Katie

  4. So from the facebook feed it appears that your mother bought you chickens so I thought you'd have someone else to blame for the hoarding. Now I find out that really it's just your hoarding problem. Luckily I don't think it's bad enough for an episode of Hoarders. Of course I can't say for certain since I've only been able to stomach about 5 minutes of that show before my eyeballs rebelled. In other news, you're my hero. You're outdoing me in the kid front at 5 to 3 and the chicken front at unknown number to 0.

  5. Thank you so much for updating. Thank your mom for the reminder. I was needing a Katie update. And thank you for rescuing that poor chair. It needed it in a bad way. I am sorry about the loss of a hive. Very sad. Your kids are cute, though, so that is something fantastic.

  6. I think I know how many chickens you have. But I'll keep it to myself so you can just keep calling yourself a chicken hoarder! I did tell Mike how many you have, and how many they lay. He asked what the heck you do with so many eggs...
That chair still looks awesome. And I trust you think of me every time you sit in it. I've decided not to hold it against Bennett that I was there for almost a week and he smiled after I left. He was really, really cute anyway.
Also, stop getting so much done with a newborn. I am still finishing my kids Halloween costumes and I got home last Friday night. You're making some of us look bad!

  7. Sounds like tons of fun! I want some bees! That would be awesome. When you get honey, I would also like to get some of that! Bennett looks great in his one month pic!
