Some Parts of Summer Are Awesome:

Like tomatoes

and sun

and outdoor eating

and long days

and the 4th of July

and popsicles

and garage sales.

And other parts, like the next fifteen days being forecasted for 100+ degrees

with six beautiful children at home, four of which don’t nap,

with no air conditioning

and no pool are pretty awful.

Oh, and the house being in a constant, I mean constant, state of dishevelment.

And I don’t mean dishevelment said with a charming British accent talking about a cute boys’ hair style way.

I mean dishevelment in a haggard, tired, pool of sweat talking about damage after a tornado type of way.

Oh, this is our neighbor’s INDOOR pool.

Seriously, right now it’s the best thing about our house.

And it’s not even our house.

It’s just BY our house.

And there is no sunblock application involved.

Anyone else out there so tired of applying sunblock?  Not that I love the idea of skin cancer caused by parental neglect...but…you know….putting sunblock on a handful of children before any outing ever gets a little tiresome…

Oh, and we have screech owls.  I think about four or five.

They’re kind of impressive.

And loud.

But they eat rats…

so there’s that.

And my outside 4th of July décor.

Which as I’m looking at these pictures seems kinda pitiful, but I was pretty proud of myself at the time.

Hope summer is treating you great.

Stand in front of the fan for me!
