Why I'm Excited

As the eternal optimist, I'm ignoring the fact that I am completely sleep deprived, for reasons out of my control, {unless you count that I find my husband so attractive that we decided to have babies, then, yes, it would be in my control} and am putting together a list of things I'm excited about:

  1. The chickens are finally laying eggs. I found two in the coop this morning.

  2. The chickens are laying eggs in the actual hen house. There was some speculation on my part whether or not they would actually lay in there, seeings how they're free range and all.

  3. For as s-t-u-p-i-d as the chickens are and for as close as they've actually gotten, they have not actually crossed the road.

  4. Canning season is over!

  5. I canned the last of it yesterday, homemade grape juice.

  6. I got a project done as a little surprise for Bryce. It's not quite finished but I wouldn't post it anyway, on the off chance he would actually read my blog.

  7. The cupboard that I bought for $5 six months ago is in the house ready to be painted.

  8. I'm going to rent the new Jane Eyre tonight, please don't try and talk me out of it.

  9. Spencer has his first tooth!

Hope something exciting is happening for you:

  • I Could Not Afford Ikea Being Two Blocks Away From My Permanent Residence

  • Homemade Blueberry Pie for Tonight

  • I Never Knew How Much My Kitchen Needed a Vintage Butter Churn Until My Mother-in-Law Gave Me One

  • No One Has Used the Little Rocking Chair Since I Re-upholstered It...Not Taking It Personally

  • An Air Mattress Is An Air Mattress, Even At A Good Friend's House

  • Am Avoiding Doing a Real Blog Post

  • Am Avoiding Responsibility

  • Am Avoiding Juicing My Grapes

  • Am Currently Taking Thoughts for Future Blog Posts

Fall

You can't see them very well, because I'm not a photographer, in case you haven't noticed, but there are a lot of gourds up there. I got them for free from gleaning a field.
I know the windows with the blue fabric don't really 'go' but they're heavy, I'm lazy, and I don't really have a back up plan for that space, so they're staying.

My friend gave me this green shelf thingy...I think I'm going to put it in the mud room to hold shoes.

I'm going to be out of town next week. Bryce has training in California and Spencer and I will be down there with him for a week sleeping in a hotel and going out to eat. My mother-in-law is coming to stay with the girls. It will be a nice little break.

Have a good weekend.

The Chair

It starts out as brown, my Uncle Bret.
It's reupholstered and given to my mom, yellow vinyl.

Done one more time in green apple oil cloth.

It turns out this little chair is perfect for reading and rocking and looks especially nice sporting fat, green ric-rac.

12 Hours to Post

New changing table

Our computer is having some issues so this post took forever to put together.

If I'm MIA for a couple of days either the house burned down, I burned down, or Bryce took the computer in to get it fixed.

The dresser was in pretty good condition. The major flaw was that a lot of the veneer had been chipped off. I filled that in, sanded it down, primed and painted the base and stained the top.

I decided to paint it because, as Bryce says, I paint everything....or because every piece of furniture in Spencer's room is wood and brown.

I thought painting some of the changing table/dresser would be a nice contrast.

Have a great weekend.

I'll be busy making strawberry freezer jam and applesauce.

Missing Sleep

Hey:

I'm drowning over here in a sea of sickness and unfinished/half-finished projects.

To cope, I read two books last week.

Don't judge.

I am guest blogging today over at my sister-in-law's blog, Get Your Crap Together:

http://getyourcraptogether.blogspot.com

She's really talented and has a lot of good ideas.

I hope it's not raining over where you are because that would be depressing, much like it is over here.

In other news, I finished Spencer's new changing table and will have pictures to post on Friday.

Talk at you then,

Katie
