Unimportant Things I Haven’t Mentioned:

  • Bryce and I canned 70 quarts of pears.
  • Bryce is awesome to can with.
  • I didn’t take a picture.
  • No one really cares.
  • My neighbor got evicted from his house.
  • The estate holders put a lot of stuff in the dumpster.
  • One is an old vanity.
  • I’m pretty sure it could be awesome.
  • Meg dumped a bucket of dirt on Spencer’s head.
  • Spencer just stood there.
  • I harvested 50 tomatoes last night.
  • Spencer is really good at catching chickens.
  • I canned apple juice.
  • I’m re-doing my friend’s household’s worth of furniture.
  • It’s taking forever but I’m almost done.
  • I’m watching a little girl 3-4 days a week.
  • So I can buy bee stuff.
  • I bought some of it last week at a garage sale.
  • Yes, you can buy that stuff at a garage sale.
  • It’s Oregon, people.
  • I’m really excited about this.
  • We’re duck sitting Bryce’s co-worker’s ducks.
  • Yes, the same co-worker that saw my bare bum.
  • One of their ducks is laying eggs.
  • I’m kind of nervous to try one.
  • My kids get dropped off and picked up by the bus right in front of our house.
  • It makes life worth living.
  • This is not an exaggeration.
  • I’m working on sewing two skirts.
  • I’m planning on making peach leather tonight.
  • It’s still really hot here, like 90s and 100s.
  • I pick a handful of raspberries everyday.
  • Someone left the back door open yesterday afternoon {not me}.
  • One of the chickens came in and made it all the way through the mud room, kitchen, and dining room.
  • Tried to chase chicken out.
  • Apparently wood floors are very slippery.
  • Finally succeeded.
  • Checked for poop.
  • None.
  • Phew.
  • I’m really inspired by my friend's blog to start sewing more clothing for myself.
  • Bryce said no more projects for this year.
  • I asked him to clarify ‘projects’.
  • He refused.
  • Boo.

Hope you have a great weekend.

We’re going to be working on putting in the sprinkler system.

  2. Your life is so much funner than mine. For reals. Eggs, chickens, raspberries, bees (someday!), skirts for yourself. I just have laundry to fold today. And a lot of fruit flies in my kitchen.

  3. You're living my dream life...like really. I told Van that we need chickens and bees--that's all I ask for. He agrees with the chickens on the sole fact that he needs somewhere for me to put all my funky girl names that he won't let me name our children. And Bryce canned with you--wow. That's dedication :) Someday...someday.

  4. My dream life too. But actually, you SHOULD take a picture of all you've canned. I'd like to sit here and stare at it and tell myself that someday that will happen. Someday when I learn to can. Why is it called canning when everything is put in jars? Ummm, take a picture so I can pin it to my pinterest board all about canning stuff.

  5. Totally take pictures of what you can. Nothing like beautiful rows of bottled fruit. Don't take pics of any chicken though, that isn't pretty. Bees are scary, just sayin'.

  6. I too, would like to see you canned pictures, also a picture of your peach leather, as peaches are a favorite of mine

  7. I love the imaginary movie I'm putting together in my head about you chasing a chicken through the kitchen. It kind of reminds me of the time when our milk cow chased my mom. The cow was outside, you look nothing like my mom, and you were chasing the chicken and not being chased by it, but believe me when I say that if your kids that witnessed said chicken event are old enough to remember this later in life they'll love to talk about it when they're older. Said cow chase is still talked about in our family.

And just for the record, I don't think a lot of men actually mind canning if it means they get to flirt with their partner. My dad helps out from time to time, especially now that there are no more kids around to help. I'm pretty sure Doug would help me too if I ever took up canning, which I will if I ever get free produce and don't have to work 6 days a week. I did find a steal of a deal on a canner last fall at Goodwill though so I'll be ready whenever that day comes.

And now I've way over commented here so let's just assume I commented on all your other posts that I've somehow missed over the last two weeks. Plus my honey's home from his night class so I'm gonna go hang out with him.
