The Usual

Me: Hi, Heidi

Heidi: Katie?! Hi, how’s it going?

Me: Oh, pretty good. How are you?

Heidi: Good, good.  Where have you been? It’s been awhile since you’ve been in.

Me: I know, I know, just busy.

Heidi: How many kids do you have now?

Me: Just had number six.

Heidi: It has not been that long!?

Me: Just haven’t had time to come by.

Heidi: Well, what can I get for you?

Me: The usual.

Heidi: Got it. When you come in, make sure you bring all those babies so I can see them and give them some candy.

Me: OK, I’ll be there around lunch time.

Diner?

Haircut?

Hot chocolate kiosk?

Drug deal?

No, no, no….no.

I am on a first name basis with the nice receptionist,

At the local glass store.

Where I have gotten no less than probably 30 pieces of glass cut over the last five years.

Mostly single pane glass panels for our century old house.

I wish it was for lunch.

Oh, I wish it was for lucnh.

And I have to get yet another window pane replaced.

Becuase Spencer accidentally knocked one out

while he was talking to Libby from outside,

and then cut his foot on a sliver I had missed when cleaning up,

during which time the phone was ringing and I was holding Libby who was crying

and while on the phone Bennett disconnected us.

So….

my life is not what I expected,

most days,

{except, honestly right this second when Bennett is hitting Spencer and at the same time calling me a stinker…}

it’s better.

What I Wore: Day #5

Hey guys!

Well, this concludes the week where I shamelessly showed you what I wear during the week, in all it’s glamour.

Thanks for following along and all the comments.

I’m open to suggestions if you have anything you’d like to see from future posts.

With three kids at home and one of them still kinda little, projects are at a bit of a stand still.

Although this spring I’m hoping to paint my piano(!)

{It was free, part of it is already painted poorly, just one sad little section, and it has a massive scratch on one part, surprisingly enough, not from the kids…so don’t feel too bad for the thing.}

And I’m wanting to finish up some things in the laundry room, like make a little gate so our cement stairs to the basement feel less like a death trap and pull up the linoleum so I can sand and paint the wood floors.

Anything fun planned for the three day weekend?

I’m hoping to get some bulbs planted…that I bought in November…and are starting to sprout in my laundry room.

What I Wore Day #4

It’s foggy,

and rainy,

Libby slept terribly,

Bennett woke up too early,

and Spencer hammered a screw into the arm of my nice rocking chair.

So, I’m channeling my inner Christian Bale, I mean Batman. {…I think we can all agree he’s played the role the best, or is the best looking, kinda the same thing…}

And Colonel Brandon died, and Professor Snape, and Prince John, I know it’s shallow, but I really liked Alan Rickman.

Batman shirt – thrifted

Mustard cardigan – Target

Jeans – thrifted

Shoes – Famous Footwear, in Colorado, five years ago….

Also, I always love a boot cut jean, but it’s so hard when you have short legs….and no bum.

So, I think they always look a bit slopppy on me, ah well.

Hope you’re having a good week

and thanks for all the fun feedback, it’s nice to hear from you all,

What I Wore: Day #1

Truth:

I get up, shower, put on clean clothes, fix my hair, put on my obligatory mascara, and scout out matching earrings.

Every day.

And most days it’s the tree in the forest scenario.

If no one actually sees it, does it actually happen?

{Spit up does not fall into this category, even if you didn’t see it, you’re bound to step in it.

Or smell it.

Or sometimes sit in it.

Oh and also a dirty diaper

or one sibling hitting another

or a child sneaking candy

or kids cleaning their rooms

…the tree in the forest situation now appears to be very limited…}

So, in my quest to better my photo taking skills, I decided to take on a new subject.

Myself.

In the mirror.

Every day this week.

Most definitely in the morning, when I’m all happy and shiny from a good night’s rest where not a single child cried, or woke up the entire house by a trip to the bathroom, or snored {I’m looking at you, Bennett, on that one…}

But before we start, here are some pictures of Libby.  She was helping me put away laundry and discovered the cutest girl on the block to be her friend.

How We:

Eat our Christmas Oreos

Decorate for New Year's Eve

 Keep our floors clean

Spend a rainy Saturday afternoon

Raise our pizza dough {I agree, this sentence sounds a little labored...}

Do a homemade pizza buffet

Bird watch

Handle a bad hair day

Start our day

Take awkward photos of ourselves to show a very small audience the skirt we made.

If you're interested in spending a week un-picking seams and wanting to cuss inside your head and eating ridiculous amounts of chocolate making a lovely skirt for yourself, here's the link.

Hope you all are doing well.

I'll be back later today and more frequently this week as I've had the absolutely terrible idea to take a picture of myself everyday to show you what I look like and what I'm wearing, but basically to practice some good old fashion photography.

I know, I know, you can hardly contain yourselves....
