Years ago, my grandma taught me how to cross-stitch. {She also taught me to not take such large bites while eating, to not say ‘ya’ – it’s slang, to tie my shoes and to put lotion on my hands so some future boy will want to hold them…some of this counsel I remember better than others.}
I went to visit my cousins in Utah one summer when my mother could not tolerate me for one more day and shipped me off. I was 12, and I am still humiliated by this fact
My patient and generous aunt had me cross stitch my name and some flowers on some fabric which she turned into a pillow.
I then showcased this pillow at a talent show where one of my youth leaders saw it and talked me into making one for her….
16 years ago.
I am happy to announce that I finished the pillow this week.
I would like to clarify that I’ve had the cross-stitch portion done for about…16 years, it was the pillow part I was hung up on.
My sisters are coming to visit next week and I will send it home with them to my mom who will hand deliver it.
So, if there is something that I told you I would do for you, apparently it doesn’t matter how long ago, now is the time to make good on that promise.
Have a good weekend.
Katie
I'm pretty sure you promised me you'd come decorate my whole house. You know, paint, decorations, etc. So just let me know when your flight gets in at DIA and I'll come pick you up... :)
