Fishing

OK, so this is totally going to sound like I’m fishing for compliments.

But, I’m not.

Unless of course you want to leave one, then by all means...

Medford’s had a couple of nice days so I could get some painting done.

So, I’ve been working on the porch…

And the floor is done.

It’s grey with a yellow border.

I really like how it turned out.

It’s exactly how I had it pictured in my head.

But, Bryce isn’t sure if he likes the grey/yellow combination.

And someone else came over and didn’t really get ‘the whole border thing’.

What do you think?

I know that if I like it that’s all that should matter…blah, blah, blah.

I’m just wondering if I’m completely off base with the whole idea.

Let me know.

You should know that I read all of your comments and try to respond when possible.

This statement was said to encourage you to comment.

  1. I knew what you were doing, but i can see how others are confused. Maybe if you bordered in the whole thing, not stopping at the steps or door? The color combination looks good to me. Bryce did a great job on the railings. Where's all that stuff that is usually on the porch? I was going to bring you more to add!

  2. I like it! I like how creative you are with your home. I think it's fun and adds character. If anything, I found myself wondering if I would want the border to extend down the edge of the steps, just for continuity. Overall I say, if you love it, embrace it!

  3. WHAT?? I totally was feeling the border...WAY before I read your commentary. I love to skim through first and look at the pic's then go back and read. Weird...yeah probably~~but that's how i roll! And I like the colors together too. I thought the dark window trim looked nice too if that is what Christy is referring to. I think you need to give us a whole face shot of your house now....so we can get the whole picture!!

  5. I think it's awesome! When you put stuff back on the porch, maybe you could pull in more of the yellow toward the center, just to balance it. Then again, I think I'm just a yellow kind of a gal...

  6. Anne says it looks like Disneyland. No idea what that means, but she must love it. You should sell tickets!! I think it looks great. I love yellow and gray, but Howard doesn't, must be a guy thing.

  7. I like the color combination and its practical as well cause if the paint becomes worn where the gray is all you have to do is repaint it and not worry about the yellow part. The yellow part should hold up better since no one is walking on it. (easier to paint the gray too, none of that fiddly stuff around the bannisters).

  8. I love this! And so does Michael (which, in my opinion, makes this a very good idea since he doesn't often think stuff like a painted border on a porch should even matter). And we are both super jealous of your front porch. I am currently trying to figure out if there is a project in the new house that would warrant me stealing this idea. I will keep you posted.

  9. Speaking for the decorating challenged segment of your readership (maybe I'm the only one??) I like it. Wait. Did I say like?? I mean love it. I'd never in a thousand years come up with such a cute idea and even if I stole it I'd never in a million years actually make it look cute assuming I actually got started with it... If I ever have money again maybe I'll fly you out for a month and put you to work over here...

  11. Love the color combo--I'm a sucker for yellow. It almost looks like sunshine and shadow in the late afternoon. I never would've thought of it, but it's cute.
